Kaito mindshare: Comparing Crypto Attention

Kaito measures mindshare as the proportion of tracked attention that a crypto project receives within a defined comparison group over a chosen period. The metric helps compare visibility among peers and understand shifts between narratives. A useful reading keeps the comparison group, coverage and measurement period consistent, then considers the discussion behind the number.

The Attention Share

Mindshare relates the attention assigned to a subject to the total attention tracked for its comparison group. Its percentage form is subject attention / total group attention * 100 , with both inputs measured over the same coverage and period. This relationship does not specify how individual posts or contributors are weighted.

Market-wide and sector-defined shares use different comparison groups. A category filter may only narrow the rows displayed, so the metric's stated group determines what the percentage means. A project's share can also decline while discussion about it grows if attention across its comparison group grows faster.

Crypto Research Measures

Measure Question It Answers
Token Mindshare Which crypto projects receive more relative attention across the market or within a sector? Compare readings for the same group and period.
Narrative Mindshare How is attention shifting between crypto themes over time?
Mention Count How many mentions of the subject occur within the measured coverage and period?
Sentiment Tracking How is the tone of discussion changing, and what discussions explain large sentiment shifts?
Smart Followers How many X accounts that Kaito identifies as central to a community follow an account? Counts are comparable within the same segment.

Time Windows and Change Units

The Top Voices Mindshare Arena offers 7D and 30D views and labels its gainer options Absolute (bps) and Relative (%). Those controls describe the voice view. A voice ranking concerns accounts participating in a conversation, while Token Mindshare concerns the projects attracting attention.

Basis points express an absolute difference in share. Relative percentage growth compares the change with the starting share. Comparisons need matching periods and change units; the largest proportional increase and the largest gain in attention share can identify different subjects.

Sentiment and Research Context

Kaito Pro includes MetaSearch and Sentiment Tracking alongside its Token Mindshare and Narrative Mindshare views. Search adds context about what people are discussing, while sentiment helps describe their reaction. Positive interest and criticism can both attract attention, so a larger share alone leaves the tone unresolved.

Project attention and narrative attention describe different scopes. A project can gain prominence within a theme while that theme receives less attention across the wider market. Reading the two series together helps distinguish a project's position among peers from the visibility of its broader subject area.

Attention also differs from adoption or price performance. A mindshare increase alone does not establish that a protocol gained users or that its token will rise in price.

The Yaps Status Change

Kaito announced the retirement of Yaps and its incentivized leaderboards on January 15, 2026. Yaps is retired, while Kaito Pro continues to provide attention analytics. Creator work through Kaito Studio depends on selection and campaign terms; a mindshare percentage alone does not establish campaign acceptance or entitlement to payment.
